Who’s Heather?
I’m the author of the best-selling books Eating for IBS and The First Year: IBS, and the founder and CEO of Heather’s Tummy Care. I hosted Heather Cooks!, the Seattle cooking show for good digestive health, and I am dedicated to helping people with Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
My IBS education and support site is HelpForIBS.com, the world’s largest IBS community, which reaches over 5 million people a year. I’ve personally had IBS since age 9, and am now considered the foremost "patient-expert" on Irritable Bowel Syndrome in America.
My work has been noted in press across America and internationally, from The Boston Globe and Newsweek to USA Today, National Public Radio, and PBS. My writing has led to inclusion in the 4th edition of Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare. Novartis Pharmaceuticals has licensed my dietary information and IBS recipes.
My first book, Eating for IBS, was a finalist for the IACP Julia Child cookbook award, which celebrates the most outstanding food and beverage publications. The award, the "Crystal Whisk", has become the industry's most coveted acknowledgement of excellence in the cookbook publishing world.
The Heather’s Tummy Care line of organic medical foods I developed for Irritable Bowel Syndrome symptoms is recommended by physicians and dietitians across the world.

The feedback I have received from IBS folks over the years is overwhelming, but here’s a small sample:
"Your products and advice have made a huge difference for me. Thank you for all your work and sharing."
Barb L.
"Hello Heather. I discovered your website about a year ago. It’s been enormously helpful for what may (or not) be ibs. Every doctor I’ve seen has recommended fiber supplements in pill form, causing almost instant diarrhea. Your tummy fiber can be taken in small increments and is helping. Along with fennel tea, which gives fast relief for cramps. Thank you for your dedication, emails and podcasts."
Linda M.
“I support your work because you have saved me and my IBS! Your products and information and peppermint oil capsules are the best! Thank you for sharing your dramatic story!”
Shelly P.
"I support your work because it has helped me so much in this nightmare diagnosis of IBS. Like you I’ve had it since I was 9 and am now 83. Since I was told about you by a former therapist I have found the continuing journey more tolerable and often pain free. Thank you for all you do and are, Heather. I continue to recommend you to others whom I think could benefit."
Judith
"Thank you, Heather, for sharing the wisdom you have acquired about IBS. Using the advice in your books has made my life so much easier and healthier. Bless you! You so deserve to be paid for your efforts.”

“It was so inspiring to talk with you today! I learned more from you (+ 3 pages of notes) than I have for the past four years elsewhere :)."
Thanks so much, Heather.”
Xoxo,

“With all my heart I thank you, Heather. You are the first person who has ever offered me real help, and I’ve been seeking it for over five decades.
I hope that you rest easily each night, secure in the knowledge that every day, you are doing your part to alleviate physical and mental suffering. There is no greater purpose to a life.
With gratitude, admiration, and a monarch butterfly seen in Central Park’s Shakespeare Garden.”
Robin
“Heather,
You are an incredible person, knowledgeable, patient, kind, and very generous.
Your help and kindness is greatly appreciated. I am learning a great deal from you. Hope you are enjoying the weekend.”
Warmest regards,
Cecile
