Audio. IBS fast fact. Attacks can cause hot or cold sweats

Because your autonomic nervous system is in overdrive...

IBS can feel like a fever - or give you the chills.

During severe IBS attacks, the autonomic nervous system overdrive can make you feel flushed, chilled, sweaty, shaky, or all of those awful things combined.

If you’re trapped in the bathroom try splashing cold water on your face and the back of your neck.

This can activate your mammalian diving reflex, slowing your heart rate and calming your nervous system.

If you can get to the kitchen, brew a cup of high volatile oil peppermint or fennel tummy tea. Both are natural antispasmodics that calm the gut and the nervous system, and ease the autonomic nervous system overdrive.

You are not alone.

I can’t do this without you. If Heather’s IBS Newsletter has helped you, please consider becoming a paid subscribers so I can keep delivering the advice and support you count on.

P.S. If you have any questions or comments I'd love to hear them - just reply to this email to reach me directly. I am overwhelmed with emails but I try to answer everyone. If you need immediate help please join my private IBS coaching.

XOXO
