IBS quick tip. Think of IBS as having sensitive skin on the inside...
Don't upset it. Nothing that is going to help IBS will make it worse first.
I like to compare having a hyper sensitive to gut to having super sensitive skin. (There’s even a gut-skin axis!)
You can’t beat IBS into submission. The more harshly you treat your gut the more likely your gut will react badly and fight back. Maybe violently.
You wouldn’t rub sandpaper on sensitive skin, or pour rubbing alcohol on it, or let it burn in the hot sun.
So don’t torture your sensitive gut with extreme diets, punitive lifestyles, or harsh treatments. Don’t pour fuel on the fire.
Nothing that is going to help IBS will make it worse first.
Be kind and gentle to your gut.
Try to keep it calm, stable, and happy. It is likely to return the favor.
And more about the hyper sensitive IBS gut…
You are not alone.
